Biography
Jacob “Jake” Butcher attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he graduated with honors with a degree in Agricultural Economics. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Mr. Butcher graduated with honors from the Drake University Law School.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Butcher served as Chief of Staff to the Illinois Senate President and the Illinois Senate Democratic Caucus. In this role, he managed the operations of the Senate President’s office as well as provided strategic advice to members of the Senate Democratic Caucus on substantive bills and budget priorities.
Mr. Butcher also spent several years as an attorney in private practice representing clients in the fields of agriculture, energy, gaming, health care, and higher education providing legal counsel on legislative proposals, litigation strategy, and the effect of state and federal law as well as associated rulemakings.
Born and raised in Mt. Auburn, Illinois, Mr. Butcher grew up on his family’s farm where he worked with his grandfather and father on their swine and grain operations. He currently resides in Springfield, Illinois with his wife and three children.
